People who accuse AFAB nonbinary people of being sexist, struggling with internalized misogyny, or “leaving all the work to the girls who don’t choose to be nonbinary” don’t seem to realize that being nonbinary does nothing to make your life easier. They think we’re just “opting out” of being women, but I personally still experience the same sexism as women do while also experiencing hate and people doubting my identity because I’m nonbinary. I would prefer to just be a cis girl but I’m just not. When I realized I was genderfluid the thought of “yay I don’t have to deal with being a girl anymore!” never crossed my mind. Because I was too terrified and in denial because I wanted to just be normal but I could not change the fact that I’m just not cis. Identifying as nonbinary does not decrease your chances of discrimination, it actually usually increases that chance, so please stop accusing us of trying to take the “easy way out” especially when many of us are willing and even want to fight for women’s rights and equality and are struggling to gain our own rights and equality as well.
i love talking to people in real life and being like “oh yeah i have instagram but i don’t really use it… i don’t have facebook or tiktok or anything like that either… idk i just don’t want to waste my life on social media, i prefer to live in the moment” and then i go home and spend 12 hours a day on tumblr
